What Are Shingle Roofs?

Shingles are a popular and traditional roofing material. Today, shingles come in a wide range of colors and materials that can significantly change how your home looks. We offer a range of shingles to ensure that repairs can be matched perfectly to your existing roof, or for new installations, to give you the specific look that you want.

When it comes to choosing a roofing company, quality and trust should never be compromised. Working with a professional is an absolute must. As a GAF Master Elite Roofing Company, our installations are carried out by trained professionals to the highest standards so you can be sure your installation is done right the first time.

Types of Shingles

There are different types of shingles from which you can choose. When you are ready to select your new roofing material, call Skyline Contractors, the best New Orleans shingle roofing company, and we will be available to assist you every step of the way. That being said, it is important that you better understand the types of shingles that are available.

3-tab shingles are the cheapest option when it comes to asphalt shingles. They are used by some contractors on hips and ridges of a roof to save cost. They are uniform in appearance and last the least amount of time. Additionally, they offer the shortest warranty terms.

Architectural Shingles

Architectural shingles are an upgraded selection to 3-tab. They are a bit more expensive than 3-tab, but their warranties are significantly longer. Premium laminate shingles offer a number of different textures and colors. Skyline Contractors is a certified GAF Master Elite installer and can offer Golden Pledge Warranty that has a 25-year term. This is unmatched in the industry.

Designer shingles are similar in quality to Architectural Shingles, but they have unique designs that are made to differentiate themselves.

Designs are made to mimic some of the more premier materials such as slate, tile, and wood roof systems.

Impact Resistant Class IV

An impact-resistant roofing shingle, also known as an “IR” roofing shingle, is designed to help reduce roof damage during severe weather and may extend the lifespan of your roof. You may also qualify for a homeowner insurance discount if you install impact-resistant roofing shingles on your home.

A Class 4 roofing shingle must endure having a 2-inch steel ball dropped from a height of 20 feet multiple times to receive a Class 4 status.

Shingles can receive lower impact resistance ratings than Class 4 – Class 2 or Class 3.
